We were invited to Osetra in Kalk Bay to have a menu sampling earlier this week.
Situated on the main road of the bustling fishing village, which has numerous antiques, collectibles and curio stores as well as a variety of places to eat.
Their tones of grey and minimalist decor with a modern chic twist adds a lovely vibe and setting with the harbour and beach just across the road.
First on the tasting menu was a variety of good tasty sushi and some salmon pops.
Edwill enjoyed the poke bowl with a Saronsberg 2017 Provenance Shiraz. They have an extensive wine list which is available for tasting, by the glass or bottle.
We then got a taste of the beef spring rolls, showing the variety of the menu as there is something for everyone, including vegetarians too.
I think from the mains tasting menu they kept the best for last as the seared tuna with a sesame seed crust on a bed of pak choi and deep fried potato crisps was so delicious. I would go back just to have this.
The dessert options are the classics but oh so yummy, we got to taste a soft creamy and just the right amount of flavor creme brulee, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and biscotti and the most delicious chocolate fondant. I got to taste a bite of the waffle with a berry compote and think I need to have that the next time I go as my dessert with the seared tuna mains.
As Kalk Bay is well known as a shopping destination in the South Peninsula, the Osetra Shop offers a bespoke shopping experience with a fully licensed wine boutique, deli and retail shop so be sure to check it out before you head off after enjoying your meal.
Do leave us a comment if you have been and tell us about your experience and what you had from the menu and don’t forget to leave them a review on Facebook and give them a follow on Instagram and Twitter too.
